Shiver (Shiver)
: Made in Spain
Language: Spanish
Synopsis: Santi (Valverde June) is a lonely teenager who lives in Barcelona with his mother, Julia (Mar Sodupe). He suffers from a condition called photophobia, which is a hypersensitivity to sunlight. Therefore, can not really do much during the day.
Other children her age, I think is a monster, his father, Oscar (Paul Berrondo) is a compulsive gambler, and his best friend, Leo (Jimmy Barante) is a pop culture geek as part of a pariah as him.
Your doctor at the Council, Santi and his mother moved to an isolated village in the north where the days are known to be short. The house they find is a bit rustic, but has all the equipment necessary for modern life.
But like most horror films, and comes with spooky shadows, nuances that sound very easy, and attic full of things that belonged to former tenants. Yes, indeed. Nothing unusual here ...
The owner, Dimas (Francesc Orella) looks good, and although the school is not very big, not as bad as it has been in the big city. Santi befriends Tito (Pau Poch) a child who is small for his age, and Angela (Blanca Suárez), daughter attractive to the local police inspector, Antonio (Roberto Enriquez). But before Sam can be installed, he learns that there is something strange in this peaceful village.
saw something scary in the forest, and is known for violently attacking livestock. When you start killing people, that always happens Santi at his side. Naturally, he is guilty of death, or at least is suspected of being part of them. But as the crisis escalating, Santi tries to solve the mystery with the help of his friends. And before long, he discovers a dark secret about the little people ...
The Good: cinematically, Chill looks and much credit must be given to production designer Pilar Revuelta (who worked on Pan's Labyrinth).
The story moves at a good pace, unlike the horror movies Made in the USA, the quality here is very good. Although the story is reminiscent of a horror movie would be the United States, the highest level quality gives the film a depth and intelligence.
The bloodshed has not finished the top. In fact, since most of the scenes bloody take place in the shade or crank flashlight beams, director Isidro Ortiz leaves a lot of horror to your imagination. Shiver a lot of suspended solids, and instead of going for cheap, go-out-of-fear, most Creepiness is carefully constructed and played more on fears simple (the house to be alone, storms, lost in the woods, etc.).
The bad: Shiver not take full advantage of all its major elements. photophobia Santi is interesting, but never played in a major way. It would have been better if For example, his "disability" has become a force at times. If he can not leave during the day, then it is logical to assume that it is his best during the night. But no. Here, as the fear of the dark (and ineffective in this one) than anyone else.
Tito has the potential to be a character interesting, but what kind of disappearance half the story. And the love interest Angela, is also underdeveloped. Without spoiling the end, there are some minor problems which disturb the logic if you think too much.
Who would like this movie: You should see if tremble you're a fan of foreign films, and (in particular films) Spanish that focus more on horror gore scary. Parts of the movie will remind you of films as Sleepy Hollow, children lost, and perhaps even the Blair Witch Project.
The general principle is quite familiar, but said very well. I guess that counts as a teen movie in some respects, but intelligence is not vulgar or insulting anyone the.
No shots boob (which may be a disappointment for some), and since it is done in a country that has no drinking age, I was a little surprised that none of the protagonists (victims), I have the paper. Perhaps a question of culture, indicating that foreign films are indeed education.
For the most part is an interesting thriller chills. Not perfect, but easily surpasses many things in Hollywood has led to a similar demographic.
