If you're looking for a fantastic little underwater camera to take on your next aquatic adventure, give serious thought to the Fujifilm FinePix Z33, a completely waterproof little point and shoot digital camera that is small, lightweight, and brightly colored. You don't want to have to lug around a large camera when you're trying to snorkel, capture a shot inside a water slide, or running under waterfalls. Plus, the four ultra bright body colors mean that if you drop it in the water you'll be able to find it again pretty easily.
For just around 160 USD, it's hard to imagine that this little camera is good for anything other than underwater shooting - I mean, that is almost worth the money as it stands. But in addition to that huge perk, the Fujifilm FinePix Z33 also offers you the same gambit of features as the Z30, with AUTO and Face Detection modes, 6 different settings modes so you'll get the best photos (portrait, landscape, night, macro, night portrait, and backlit portrait). Those things along with auto red eye removal and detection of up to 10 faces make it a pretty impressive little digital, especially considering the price.
There are a bunch of other great features on this little waterproof camera as well. One such example is the Anti-Blur mode, which helps to stabilize the picture so you'll get a great shot even in fairly fast action scenarios. You'll also probably like the Intelligent Flash feature that helps you get the subject in the photo in full light as well as using the natural light in the room to pull detail from the background. No more overexposed Aunt Sally swimming in a sea of black.
If you use eBay or Craigslist you'll probably enjoy the unique auction feature, that allows you to take multiple shots and make them into one image so you can easily upload every angle of that old thing you're trying to sell.
This camera doesn't just take still images, either. It also captures video, and allows you to take multiple video clips and combine them into one movie to show off to your friends and family. There really are tons of great settings, modes, and features that make this a really impressive, high value little camera that you can use, not only underwater, but for everyday life as well.
Is there anything about this camera that isn't to love? Well, a lot of consumers complain quite a bit about what they perceive as "grain" in their image. With 10 MP it's highly unlikely you're going to get actual true grain, assuming you're shooting in the higher resolutions. What you will get, though, is high ISO noise in lower light situations, especially in-doors. Low light is easily counteracted by the flash, but the range on it is only about 10 feet. If you keep the flash on for low light shots further than 10 feet then you're definitely going to get noise in your image - either that or it will just be horribly underexposed. Having the flash on when it isn't doing any good only fools your camera into thinking it has more light than it actually does, resulting in a very poor quality image. It's better to kill the flash and adjust ISO settings to capture the image, or leave the flash on and move closer to your subject.
