9 times out of 10 - when someone is asked to list the top ten greatest films of all time, at least 1 of the list of movies is The Godfather - sometimes two of them. Almost nobody says the movie The Godfather III, when the lists are - more just pretend it never existed. Not that this is a film completely horrible, just that when compared with the first 2 movies were certainly masterpieces - that few films could never match. It might be true after a lapse of 15 years of time between films - why try? However, it is actually an epilogue to a great series of films and is an essential part of the saga.
As big as the movies have been godfather, after having appeared in such films often devastating career any player approaching them.
Al Pacino (Michael Corleone)
As great as was Pacino in The Godfather, Serpico and dozens other - once won an Oscar for his role as an army officer retired and blind who liked to yell "Hoo-Ahh" at the drop of a hat, which quickly became the style the height of her career. What was great once, quickly becomes tedious, like his films.
Marlon Brando (Don Vito Corleone)
Playing an aging patriarch of the Corleone family, Brando gave the performance of his life - the life that was already filled with great performances. Most of the work he did after being overpaid for most cameos in which not even read the script and improvisation to "influence". Of course, he was great in "Apocalypse Now", but was aware that 16 minutes concocted incoherent over 3 days of hiking Fricken Brando's mind? The real talent is in question, not quality. There is also the issue of weight gain and Brando in the film, which often only shot in the chest.
Robert Duvall (Tom Hagen)
Best Actor - and made some good movies, but I find very difficult to a film that made the last 20 years, he was not wearing a cowboy hat. As Al Pacino - once he found something, he won (in this case the Emmy awards for things like Lonesome Dove) - he stuck to it and did nothing for most. For a great actor, is a disgrace to the box you in style.
Talia Shire (Connie Corleone Rizzi)
Also starring in the film franchise as popular as the saga of The Godfather and Rocky movies, has not done much. On the other hand, get your paper may have been more on nepotism (she was the sister of director) and the ability to act.
John Cazale (Fredo Corleone)
Gave a masterful performance as the idiot brother of Michael Fredo - and followed with some excellent films - including Deerhunter and Dog Day Afternoon. Unlike others, Mr. Cazale has a good excuse not to make movies bigger - which unfortunately died in 1978
Bruno Kirby (Pete Clemenza - when I was young)
It was a great character actor, who starred in the film and television, it was everywhere. You are almost out of their way not to see your work somewhere. Unfortunately his career was cut too short after he died of leukemia a few years ago.
And while it is almost unfair to include persons that simply did Godfather III: The Curse seems to be united with them too. Here are a few cases.
Andy Garcia (Vincent Mancini)
At one point, Garcia was considered the next big thing in Hollywood. His roles in movies like "Black Rain, The Untouchables Interior and seemed to suggest that there was certainly a competitor - but down mediocre B-movie direct to video productions seem to indicate otherwise. His last great masterpiece, which appears in the second Steve Martin tries to destroy the film The Pink Panther.
Bridget Fonda (Hamilton Grace)
Another, and eating is part of the film, unfortunately ended with most editing room. It seems that most of his time on screen Sofia Coppola was with, "performance" instead * sigh * It was good in a small role in Jackie Brown, Tarantino, and was offered the main role in Ally McBeal (Calista Flockhart given later), but he refused to focus on her film career - which ended being a very bad decision because he did nothing of note since 2002.
AND FINALLY .. Cursed part of Mary Corleone ...
The play was actually written for a young Julia Roberts, but she escaped the curse by the defection of scheduling problems. Madonna also asked the paper, but lost Coppola because he thought he was too old for the role. Winona Ryder, actually signed for the role, but Retired Johnny Depp apparently broken their engagement and she may have had a fault (presumably). Winona has been another successful Next Big Thing in parts of films as murderers heather and now more infamous Beetlejuice known for caught on video for shoplifting.
The only good thing the curse of Godfather is one that destroys any possibility Sofia Coppola always act in a movie again. She eventually quit acting continue to operate, he finished putting a masterpiece like "Lost in Translation.
