Deep. Colum McCann, author of Great World Spin This should take a bow. One of my favorite authors, Frank McCourt, described the work "a symphony of novel. "I agree with this description of my heart. I felt like applauding when I got to the last page.
McCann has in New York in 1974 during the Vietnam War as a single living organism breathing and then deconstructed in different parts through stories Crusaders its inhabitants. At the epicenter is a man on a tightrope between the twin towers of the World Trade Center.
McCann character development achieved in less than 400 pages is impressive to say the least. These characters are rough and real - the McCann shows us through his faults. The stories of each character are each interesting in itself, and how their stories mingle poetry.
But McCann's ability as an author of more than tell a story that takes the reader on a journey. A trip that I was really touched. Why did I move? McCann shows great sensitivity to his characters and for humanity.
"Everything fell into the hands of music over time. The only thing that saved me was listening to a loud voice. A few years accumulated in the sound. "
The symbolism used in this novel is brilliant. Each individual, city, country, world - all in a metaphorical tightrope. This story sums up why I like fiction literature. In his fiction The most novel can provide ground for self-indulgence of an author at his best, is a form of artistic expression that has the power to influence thought. In my opinion, that the Great World Spin is the last.
You need not have lived through the Vietnam War so you can connect with this novel. If you like the movie Crash, this book is for you. I can not recommend this work more. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Colum McCann was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1965. He now lives in New York with his wife and three children. In 2009 McCann has received the National Book Award as the Great World Spin (2009).
