The term Mc Dojo has become very popular these days in the cases of several martial arts magazines and is a derogatory term used to describe certain types of martial arts schools. What are these types of schools and why this term is relevant to you as someone looking to start martial arts? This first article will explain what a Mc Dojo is and then gives some tips on how to avoid joining one.
As martial arts have grown in popularity since the first Bruce Lee craze that then lead to Jackie Chan, Steven Seagal, Jean-Claude Vandamme, The Karate Kid, and more recently Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers, martial artists across the country have begun to realize the potential of martial arts during to make money and viable business.
Not too many years ago, the idea that someone could do the teaching Karate money was simply ridiculous, but there is now a growing number of successful schools to do what we called more than seven digits of gross annual income. Some of these schools are reputable and offer quality programs with quality martial arts Instructor chef / owners, others are not. How do you know who is who?
You have probably now discovered that a Mc Dojo is not considered a recognized school. A Mc Dojo everything is frankly the worst example of a martial arts school. He is the one who lost contact with the actual values Martial arts are like honesty and integrity, and heard a thing - Get the most money each person who walks through the door.
Part of the problem, however, lies with the consumer, for the most part, consumers do not know what to look for or what which is a good school and what a good instructor looks on. My goal with this article and all my other resources to help you know what to look before you make a mistake you regret.
These are the four warning signals that their school is a Mc Dojo.
1. Hard-Sell Tactics
As soon as you walk in the door through which are met by aggressive sales tactics that focus primarily on the opening your checkbook or delivery of visa card mainly on martial arts programs were discussed.
2. Multiplicity
colorful belts, multiple stripes, multiple uniforms with various patches, multiple high kicks, several high-five, a number black belts with multiple degrees, multiple reasons for joining and modernization programs of several for the same program. Need we say more? I think you get the picture!
3. Contracts
Yes, you guessed it. Please register at least one year, three years, five years or more. After all karate is about commitment, right? It is never give up and always do your best. You know what, you're right in this case. Karate is about commitment, it is never give up and always do your best.
However life is such that things are happening outside their control and even if I wanted to get a black belt and had every intention of staying with him, lost his job, you have a promotion in another city or state, there was a death in your family or a sick relative who needs care.
A reputable martial arts school will give an output through an agreement that provides a safeguard clause for one of the reasons I mentioned, or simply because they have no integrity and understand and sympathize with their situation. A Mc Dojo will have already cashed and spent your money without the possibility of a refund or simply will be sent to collections. What schools want to try?
4. False Promises
If you tell them that you be able to defend themselves against an assailant armed with a knife crazy in just three months into his program? There are courses that can teach this, martial arts college they do not, especially if the instructor is a type of hair on the head 17 with a pendant.
If you say you can get a black belt in just over a year? Or even in two years? This is a joke and if you believe that, then you probably deserve to be taken for a ride! If you have asked to buy expensive equipment throughout the body and fill only to participate in a game of touch and cloud? basic combat does not require keeping fighting in the name of "security" which requires a good instructor, clear rules and guidance and supervision. Nothing more, nothing less.
This theme of Mc Dojos is extremely important for all prospective students of martial arts. Please do not take lightly. You must learn and do your research.
