Since rumors of wealth occurred in new places, entire villages were deserted, and unfortunately, the ghost town of West Wild was born. Today, hundreds of ghost towns are scattered throughout the West, here are five worth a visit:
1. Bodie, California

With 65 rooms once their coating strip a mile, it is not surprising shootings fights in bars, and measures of flight room were on the agenda. Today, shootings and robberies are gone, but still many historic buildings. There is a real Wild West feeling authenticity here as most structures remained as they were complete assortment of supplies. Just be careful not to drink the partner in the moonlight.
2.Tombstone, AZ
The state of Arizona has an incredible 275 ghost towns, but Tombstone is probably the most revered. Legend has it that the city took its name from a soldier who arrived and warned the founder of Cities: The rocks that he alone was capable of choosing between corn was his own tombstone. Although the discovery of large stone money suddenly brought good fortune, the soldier was right on one point what was an abandoned place. Anarchy of violence and devastation, culminating in the infamous duel with coral OK.
Today you can relive the classic confrontation in its original location and still live to tell. Come Helldorado Festival in October, and will be treated to Wild West shows, street entertainment, and even a carnival for children. Believe it or not, Tombstone is now a safe place to bring the whole family.
3. Jerome AZ
Another great stay in Arizona ghost towns, once Jerome had more infamous reputation that own tombstone. Rife with prostitution, gambling and murder, the New York Sun, once labeled as "city of evil in the West. "While the wealth of silver, copper and gold, led the population to 15,000, raging wildfires and the collapse in copper prices has finally sealed his fate as a ghost town. In 1950, only 50 brave souls have dared to call home Jerome.
Named in a historic district in 1967, Jerome has regained some of its former size (less murder and prostitution). Today is tamer, more civilized, Jerome is frequented by visitors stop to enjoy its museums, bed & breakfast, live music, and even restaurants. Jerome even has a lively arts scene, with more than 30 galleries to showcase their products. You'll find it hard to believe that this time was considered the Wild West.
4. Austin, Nevada
In the middle Nevada along U.S. Highway 50, you will find in the dusty ghost town of Austin. Discovered by accident after a horse launched a silver stone revealing the town grew rapidly to house some 10,000 souls in search of a fortune Fast. As often happens, however, it is more hype than wealth, and Austin quickly met with a rapid decline.
As is evident from three churches that adorn the city (all of which are still standing), Austin can not hear well be one of the most civilized of the Wild West. In fact, the Episcopal Church Austin is widely considered the most beautiful of all churches border. Today you will find a ghost town well preserved, which survives still in the mining and production of turquoise jewelry. We recommend you try kicking a stone or two, while in City, who knows what treasures you might find.
5. Bannack, Montana
Due south of Beaver County Dilon Montana head, the ghost town is a good state of preservation of Bannack. Named after the Indians who roamed the earth, its time of prosperity a safe in the temporary capital of the Mountain. Bannack is most famous for his renegade sheriff Henry Plummer, who with his gang has killed more than 100 miners in the gold mines. As frontier justice would, however, Plummer time arrested and later hanged without trial. Twenty-two of his associates met with similar destinations. Hey, do not call it the Wild West for nothing.
Bannack is now a nostalgic trip back in time, most with over 60 original log structures, which can be freely explored at your leisure. Having had a look around the city, you'll feel and workmanship, and heading into the sunset.
