Have you ever been so fired up about something that you just couldn't seem to keep it to yourself? When I first began to invest in real estate; I was so excited after reading an e-book that I had purchased online for about $97.00. The book addressed the subject of buying real estate easily with "no money down. After reading it, I became so excited, I felt that I just had to share this newly acquired zeal with a couple of family members, as well as some of my co-workers, and brief them on my revolutionary plans to get rich in real estate!
Of course they were all just as excited as I was, each of them indicating how diligently committed to my success they were and reassured me that if I should need any moral, emotional, educational, or financial support, they would be there for me right?.........WRONG!
I'm not sure why we do this, but for some unknown reason we feel compelled to share our ambitions with those around us, thinking that we will somehow obtain their approval, or perhaps, their support. However, it very seldom-if ever happens that way. Perhaps one of the biggest obstacles that we "dreamers" face when pursuing our goals is that of criticism from our peers or the infamous "nay-sayers" I like to call them. You know who I'm talking about. It is "they" who like to pull you off to the side and proceed to give you 101 reasons why your premature, poorly thought out plans for success will fail miserably. Not that they have any hardcore experience to back up any of this so-called "advice", but their words still manage to effectively take the wind right out of your sales.
If there's one thing that I've learned through the years of chasing down a multitude of ambitious endeavors, it's that most people (usually within your peer group) are driven by a subconscious sense of competitiveness that causes them to feel uncomfortable when they see someone other than themselves trying to get ahead. This is why no matter how big or how small the objective, there will always be a critic standing by who will make every attempt to hinder your success. Don't take it personal, it's just a fact of life!
It is important that we constantly train ourselves to ignore that negative energy that is being cast upon us by these nay-sayers and keep focusing on whatever our objective might be, whether it is to make money, start a home based business, or get a PhD in astrophysics. If you really want to succeed, then I would recommend surrounding yourself with others who have the same goals as you do, and share at least as much (if not more of) that same passion. The synergy that will be created by this will give you what I like to call "a champion's momentum", and negativity will no longer be able to control your attitude.
